For tourists who want to do more than just view wildlife from a safari vehicle, Zimbabwe is the best place to go.

The several game parks throughout the country provide a range of opportunities to watch wildlife, including day and night game drives in open safari vehicles, boat cruises, walking safaris, kayaking, and and white water rafting.

Find out what is offered in the places you want to visit. Zimbabwe relies heavily on tourism as a cash source, and the standards at hotels and restaurants in the more well-known tourist areas are rigorously upheld.

The majority of the nation’s well-known tourist attractions are located in remote areas, distant from its major cities. Victoria Falls, one of Zimbabwe’s leading tourist destinations, is nearly entirely focused on tourism and is still an exciting vibrant holiday destination.

Currency

All locations take US dollars and South African rands; however, US notes from before 2003 are no longer accepted. Also, possible rejection of high denomination notes.

ATMs may be located in all of Zimbabwe’s main city centres and retail centres. Banking hours at the majority of commercial banks are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 15 p.m., and on Saturday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Credit card use is not advised in Zimbabwe. Most eateries, businesses, and hotels take Visa and MasterCard. American Express and Diners Club are occasionally not accepted. A passport or other form of picture identification should always be carried about in case identifying documentation is required. Gas stations do not take credit cards.

Safety

You should ask your tour guide or hotel concierge if there are any possibly dangerous spots along your planned path because they will know.

Avoiding uninhabited locations is recommended, especially at night. If you’re on a self-drive excursion, please make sure your car is always locked and parked in well-lit, busy areas.

When visiting the various cities in Africa, dress casually and avoid wearing too much jewellery. It is advised to use a concealed travel wallet.

Hitchhikers should not be stopped for.

Photography

Please use caution when taking pictures of individuals. Although Zimbabweans are known for being friendly, it is polite to ask before taking pictures. It’s against the law to snap pictures of governmental entities, military people, or public structures or border crossings.

Until their effect on wildlife and anti-poaching efforts can be researched, unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones) are not permitted in any of the conservation areas. Due to similar positions taken by our partners in other nations and areas, this law will be enforced throughout all of Africa.

Visa and Passport Requirements

People living in the SADEC countries do not need visas to visit Zimbabwe or Botswana. Visitors to Zimbabwe must have a passport that is at least six months valid from the date of travel. There should be two blank pages in every passport. Visitors are recommended to apply for multiple entry visas if they want to travel to and from Zimbabwe’s neighbours.

It is advised against using credit cards in Zimbabwe since certain establishments do not accept them.

Bring no clothing with camouflage patterns or designs; Zimbabwe does not permit this. This rule is applicable to any attire that can be mistaken for military garb. It is strongly advised that travellers to Zimbabwe refrain from packing or wearing any apparel with a military theme. Clothes Khaki in colour, sand coloured, dark green or black are sensible choices.
